Hey, Jeanne Pirro! Your Racist Slip Is Showing

I’ve long thought that Judge Winebox has had enough dispensation from the Murdochs. She lost her own show over her 2020 election lies, and they put her on “The Five” to fulfill her contract and also “prove” they can’t be “bullied by the LEFT” into having actual sane people in their host chairs (see Laura Ingraham, also).

And now she’s trying to teach history.

JEANINE PIRRO (CO-HOST): I just want to say something about the Statue of Liberty. The Statue of Liberty was a gift from France. It came here in 1886. At that time, we had an immigration law in this country where you came here and you had to be on Ellis Island. You had to be screened and you had to be documented. You had to be tested. You had to be vaccinated and you could only come in if you had a sponsor or if you were self-reliant, okay? This guy doesn’t know his history. The truth is, if you understood the background of the Statue of Liberty, it’s a symbol of freedom and democracy. It doesn’t mean, “Everybody just show up and we’ll take care of you.”

It doesn’t? Sure the French sent us the statue, but Emma Lazarus raised money for the pedestal on which Lady Liberty stands. The foundation of the Statue of Liberty was built by… wait for it… IMMIGRANTS. And the Emma Lazarus poem “The New Colossus” was added via bronze plaque to that pedestal, not in the hippie 1960’s, but in the Year of Our Lord 1903.

The New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Driftglass and I did an entire podcast on Pirro’s kind of immigration BS.

.

The fact is before 1924 there were no quotas whatsoever for Europeans wanting to come to the United States. Sure, you had to not have tuberculosis. Anyone could find a sponsor, and if you were Catholic the local priest in NYC would sponsor you. There was no literacy test before 1917. It was, by today’s standards, open borders with Europe. And the white Protestant old-timers in the US hated it. Anti-immigration sentiment led to violence against new arrivals. Sound familiar?

And that doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of what went on with Italians. I cover this in-depth in the podcast because of Maria Bartiromo’s anti-immigration BS.

Does Jeanne Pirro know that the KLAN targeted Italian immigrants after 1915? Does she know about the mass lynching of Italian men in New Orleans in 1897? Jeanne Pirro’s rhetoric against those south of the border sounds a lot like the English Protestant violent panic of the Teddy Roosevelt era.

She’s just a liar as usual, but it this case? It’s about YOUR people, Jeanne Pirro. YOUR people.
