Every parent has to deal with their child’s tantrums at some point, but it’s a little different when you’re as visible as the vice president of the United States.
After Miller asked Vance about his parenting, the veep freely admitted that his wife, Usha, seems to handle dealing with their three kids, ages 8, 5 and 3, better than he does.
“Usha and I handle it very differently,” Vance said before relating a story about a woman they met in an airport who said she was a child therapist and praised his wife for the way she interacted with their son in public.
“It is amazing,” Vance conceded. “She’s super patient. She’ll try to reason with them.”
Vance’s own parenting style seems to involve less patience and more four-letter words, however.
“If they have a tantrum in a public place, I immediately grab them, take them to the bathroom and say, ‘You got to cut that shit out,’” he said.
This isn’t the first time Vance has suggested he yells at his kids.
Last August on the “Full Send Podcast,” he described cursing at his oldest child, who wanted to talk about Pokémon while he was on the phone with Donald Trump.
“He’s going through a Pokémon phase … he’s really into it. So he’s trying to talk to me about Pikachu, and I’m on the phone with Donald Trump. And I’m like, ‘Son, shut the hell up for 30 seconds about Pikachu.’”
“This is the most important phone call of my life. Please just let me take this phone call,” Vance recalled saying.

During the interview with Miller, Vance admitted that his kids sometimes attempt to use his high profile against him.
“My kids, they are very judgmental of our parenting in public, and I think they know that there’s always cameras around, so they use that as an opportunity to say, ‘Oh, Dad should … have child protective services called because he didn’t give me two scoops of ice cream last night.’”
