DEVO co-founder Gerald Casale has a new animated music video out, and it does not hold back on Donald Trump. In “Just Do It!,” Casale turns Trump into a cartoon dictator marching a MAGA zombie army through the collapse of American democracy, smashing the Liberty Bell with a sledgehammer, watching the Statue of Liberty crumble, and running down protesters in an ambulance marked “Freedom.” Jeffrey Epstein’s face fills the Teletubbies sun while Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Bill Clinton, and Steve Bannon play the Teletubbies themselves.
Casale scripted the video with Italian artist Max Papeschi and animator Maurizio Temporin, and co-wrote the song with Czech composer Moimir Papalescu, with DEVO’s Josh Hager and Jeff Friedl on guitar and drums. It’s the first single off his upcoming solo album Wetiko, timed to land around America’s 250th birthday. He told Rolling Stone he’d had the idea since Trump’s first term: “It was obvious then he was an anti-democracy tyrant. Since his return in 2024, he has grown exponentially unhinged.
