This Group Has Pulled A Big ‘Switcheroo’ On Trump Since His 2024 Win, CNN’s Harry Enten Says

CNN’s chief data analyst Harry Enten on Monday spotted how voters without a college degree, a key demographic that helped launch Donald Trump to a second term, have pulled a big “switcheroo” on the president. (Watch his analysis below.)

Enten highlighted how Trump’s approval numbers with the voting cohort are “absolutely collapsing” as the president’s net approval rating has cratered to -9 percentage points, a notable drop since the group favored him over then-Vice President Kamala Harris back in 2024 (by a margin of +14 points).

The GOP’s advantage with non-college voters has also taken a plunge, the data chief explained.

Republicans now have a slim edge over Democrats (by a margin of +4 points) when it comes to non-college voters’ choice for Congress ahead of November’s midterms, per CNN exit polling and Enten’s data aggregation.

That’s a dip from the 2024 election, when the GOP held an advantage of +13 points over Democrats with the group.

“If you’re Donald John Trump and the Republican Party … a four-point lead among non-college voters is not anywhere close to being good enough because Democrats are dominating among voters with a college degree,” Enten stressed.

“At this point, the Democratic base with college voters is rising and the Republican base with non-college voters is collapsing.”

CNN’s Kate Bolduan chimed in, noting that the president pledged to bring back manufacturing jobs during his 2024 campaign.

Enten flagged a “bit of a problem” with Trump’s promise, pointing to data showing a loss of 63,000 manufacturing jobs since last January. He added that there’s been an “even larger collapse” since the president’s “Liberation Day” announcement.

“So what we’re dealing with is a Donald Trump message that is not actually meeting the reality,” he said.
