Trump Gushed That His Political Adversary Was ‘Even Better Looking In Person’ In Strange Comments

President Donald Trump was apparently shocked that New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani is “even better looking in person” after meeting him for the first time.

During the political pair’s surprisingly cordial meeting at the White House last month, which took place after the two publicly traded blows for weeks, the president seemingly marveled over Mamdani’s looks, according to a new Mamdani profile in New York Magazine.

When Mamdani strolled into the Oval Office moments before the right-wing leader and self-proclaimed democratic socialist spoke with the press, Trump uttered aloud, “Wow, you are even better looking in person than you are on TV.”

New York Magazine reporter David Freedlander, who attended the highly-publicized meeting, added, “The tone never changed from there, with Trump seeming legitimately impressed by Mamdani.”

Trump’s comments about Mamdani’s appearance were a stark difference from what he said about the mayor-elect during an interview on CBS’ “60 Minutes that aired Nov. 2.

After journalist Norah O’Donnell asked Trump, 79, what he thought of people comparing Mamdani, 34, to a “charismatic” left-wing version of himself, he bluntly replied, “Well, I think I’m a much better looking person than him.”

Trump’s chummy meeting with Mamdani surprised the nation, considering the sharp jabs the pair lobbed at each other leading up to the summit.

The president repeatedly falsely referred to Mamdani as a “communist” while the mayor-elect called out Trump as a “despot” and a “fascist.” Mamdani has denied being a communist.

Their feud reached a new height in September after Trump, a New York native, threatened to withhold funding from New York City should Mamdani win the mayoral race.

Trump also declared in a Truth Social post that Mamdani would face “problems with Washington like no Mayor in the history of our once great City.”

At one point during their Nov. 21 meeting, Mamdani was asked if he still thinks Trump is a fascist. Before he could reply, the president chimed in, telling him, “That’s OK, you can just say ‘yes’. It’s easier than explaining it, I don’t mind.”

“OK, yes,” Mamdani responded with a grin as Trump smiled back and patted him on his arm.

But after the meeting, the mayor-elect stuck to his guns regarding his initial opinion of Trump.

Appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Mamdani was asked yet again whether he thinks Trump is a fascist.

“That’s something that I’ve said in the past. I say it today,” he replied. “And I think what I appreciated about the conversation that I had with the president was that we were not shy about the places of disagreement, about the politics that has brought us to this moment.”
