Tucker Carlson asked former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) if he ever went out with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) on his X show this week.
“Did you ever date her?” Carlson asked.
“I did not, no,” Gaetz replied.
“Did you try?” Carlson pressed.
“No, and uh, not my cup of tea,” answered the former lawmaker, who once said he would “swipe right” to work on a bill with her. “But she, after Jan. 6, treated us [Republicans] all like we had horns or something.”

Gaetz said earlier in the Monday-posted chat with Carlson that the progressive lawmaker was chummy with her Republican counterparts before the insurrection. He also claimed she expressed admiration for the GOP’s 2023 ousting of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.). “We don’t have the guts to do this on our side,” Gaetz said Ocasio-Cortez told him.
Gaetz completely dismissed Ocasio-Cortez’s claim that she suffered trauma when the Capitol was stormed by a Trump-instigated mob on Jan. 6, 2021, to stop the election certification.
Gaetz called her reaction “bad performance art.” Yet elsewhere in the interview the ex-lawmaker predicted she would make a “compelling run” against California Gov. Gavin Newsom for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Gaetz, who hosts a show on One America News Network, resigned from the House in November 2024 after President-elect Donald Trump announced he would nominate him for attorney general.
But several senators in his own party couldn’t get behind Gaetz, prompting his decision to withdraw his name from consideration. Gaetz, who was investigated by the feds and Congress for alleged sex trafficking, has denied wrongdoing.
Fast forward to 17:05 for the AOC conversation:
