Many viewers who side with President Donald Trump’s crackdown applauded the video, which seems to be AI-generated, but wise men and others online chimed in about the sour note it struck.

Some complained the “evil,” “sick” and “racist” clip perverted the innocence of Christmas and Santa Claus while exposing the hypocrisy of conservatives who claim there’s a so-called war on Christmas.
“Jesus would have despised this,” one observer wrote. “Mocking and threatening immigrants using Santa Claus is the opposite of everything he stood for, compassion, mercy, and care for the vulnerable. Ending it with “Merry Christmas” doesn’t sanctify it. It exposes the hypocrisy.”
“Peak dystopia,” wrote another.
ICE seemed to use a snippet of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s “Carol of the Bells” for the soundtrack. The Trump administration has routinely co-opted music without permission, including a song by Sabrina Carpenter that appeared in another ICE promotion recently. She called out Trump’s “inhumane” agenda. The White House kept the fight going by tweaking Carpenter’s “Saturday Night Live” promo into another pro-ICE message.

Migrants living illegally in the U.S. are being offered $3,000 (if eligible) to self-deport before the new year. But the administration has acted dishonorably toward migrants who have a clean record.
A recent report indicated that 75,000 people arrested in ICE raids in the first nine months of Trump’s second term had no criminal history, contradicting an administration claim that it was focusing on violent criminals.
Here are some of the comments about ICE’s Santa Claus video:
