Thursday wasn’t a great day for Indiana Gov. Mike Braun (R), but his unforced error made it worse.
First, his state’s Republican-led Senate ignored the furious decrees of President Donald Trump to adopt a new congressional map that would eliminate two House seats currently held by Democrats. Instead, 31 of Indiana’s 50 state senators voted against the new map, including a majority of Republicans.
Obviously, Trump wasn’t happy the new map failed to pass, so he decided to attack state Sens. Rodric Bray and Greg Goode, for being “two politically correct type ‘gentlemen.’”

Trump also went after Brown for “not working the way he should to get the necessary Votes.” He also claimed that Braun “wouldn’t be Governor without me (Not even close!).”
Indiana Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith said Thursday the Trump administration was so adamant about redistricting that it vowed to withhold federal funds from the state if it didn’t help him rig the House by drawing a new congressional map.
“The Trump admin was VERY clear about this,” Beckwith said on social media.
Braun apparently wasn’t happy at being called out by his fearless leader, so he took to social media to express disappointment “that a small group of misguided State Senators have partnered with Democrats to reject this opportunity to protect Hoosiers with fair maps and to reject the leadership of President Trump.”

Braun also promised that he “will be working with the President to challenge these people who do not represent the best interests of Hoosiers.”
Braun’s terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day got worse after he posted his pledge to do whatever Donny wants.

First, a community note on the tweet pointed out that a majority of Republican state senators voted against the bill, not “a small group.”
Then California Gov. Gavin Newsom twisted the knife further on Friday by quoting Braun’s post while subtly pointing out the real message behind it ― and the true recipient.
“Your knee pads are in the mail. Xoxo,” Newsom responded, a reference to an October post of his promising to send knee pads to all CEOs, universities and GOP officials bending the knee to Trump.

As of Friday afternoon, Braun hadn’t responded to Newsom’s post. HuffPost reached out to his office for comment but no one immediately responded.
