California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) announced that he’s going to send a very pragmatic gift to a few noteworthy loyalists of President Donald Trump, and it’s likely something that a Targaryen (“Game of Thrones”) would unironically give to everyone they know: knee pads.
“COMING SOON — NEW KNEE PADS FOR ALL CEO’s, UNIVERSITIES, AND GOP BENDING THE KNEE TO DONALD TRUMP,” Newsom tweeted Wednesday.
He added: “YOUR KNEES LOOK VERY SORE FROM ALL YOUR GROVELING. THEY WILL EVEN BE SIGNED BY YOUR DEAR LEADER SINCE YOU LOVE HIM SO MUCH! YOU ARE WELCOME!!!!”
Along with Newsom’s tweet was a snippet of his appearance at the California Economic Summit in Stockton on Wednesday, where he expanded on his snarky sporting gear agenda, saying that he intends to send a pair to the University of Virginia, the latest institution to reach a settlement with the Justice Department over its diversity, equity, and inclusion policies. It follows schools like Columbia University and Brown University, which have also buckled to the Trump administration’s demands to restore their funding.
In his clip, Newsom criticized “all the CEOs, media companies, law firms and universities” for “bending a knee” to the Trump administration.
“This guy is …rewriting history,” Newsom said of Trump on Wednesday. “Putting us back to a pre-1960s world, censoring historic facts. Wake up, everybody.”

Although the knee pads appear to already be sold out, the site boasts plenty of other funny merch, including a “Trump Is Not Hot” tank top, a red MAGA-looking hat that reads, “Newsom Was Right About Everything!” and Bibles signed by Newsom, meant to poke fun at Trump peddling his own “God Bless The USA” Bibles.
