Harris Rallies, Trump Derails As Election Day Draws Closer: Latest Updates

A sportswriter who authored a book on the relationship between Trump and golf pushed back against the Republican candidate’s lewd comments over the weekend about the late Arnold Palmer, saying that the golf legend did not like the former president.

“Just so you know, Arnold Palmer did not like Trump. He hated golf cheats,” Rick Reilly posted Sunday on social media, adding that Palmer himself told the sportswriter that someone who cheats on the golf course will also cheat in business.

“He’d seen Trump cheat like a six-year-old playing Monopoly and wanted nothing to do [with] him,” the former Sports Illustrated columnist continued.

Reilly wrote a book in 2019 titled, “Commander in Cheat” where he explains how Trump’s relationship with golf can help the public understand the convicted Republican’s character and shady behavior in business and politics.

Trump made the outlandish decision at a Saturday rally in Latrobe, Pennsylvania – Palmer’s hometown – to bring up the golf star’s penis size, after rambling for several minutes in praise of the conservative who died in 2016. The presidential candidate told the crowd that Palmer was “all man,” and that “when he took showers with the other pros, they came out of there, they said: ‘Oh, my God, that’s unbelievable.’”

In a 2018 interview with Sporting News, the late star’s daughter, Peg Palmer, also said that her father was “appalled by Trump’s lack of civility and what he began to see as Trump’s lack of character.”

“My dad had no patience for people who demean other people in public. He had no patience for people who are dishonest and cheat,” the daughter said. “My dad was disciplined. He wanted to be a good role model.”
