CNBC ’Squawk Box’ Host Reveals Why His Wall Street Sources Are ‘Scared’ Of Trump 2.0

Andrew Ross Sorkin, the co-host of CNBC’s business show “Squawk Box,” on Wednesday revealed that his Wall Street sources have told him they are “scared of the chaos” that former President Donald Trump will potentially create for them and their companies if he returns to the White House.

“They’re scared of waking up in the morning and looking at X/formerly Twitter and seeing either their company or their name in it and what that means,” Sorkin told MSNBC’s Ari Melber during a lengthy discussion about the contrasting economic plans being proposed by GOP nominee Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.

Sorkin cited Trump’s proposal this week to “add a 200% tariff on John Deere, on Deere tractors” as an example. Trump has also proposed sweeping tariffs across the board, which Sorkin equated to a big tax hike on Americans.

“Think about that for a second,” he told Melber of Trump’s John Deere comment. “How strategic is that? What about all the farmers in America that buy the tractors? That’s a massive tax on them. That’s what it is.”

Melber asked how accurate it is to say that most of the Wall Street community appears willing to “put up with another four years of Trump.”

Sorkin suggested that most of corporate America was standing with President Joe Biden until his disastrous debate with Trump. Then, before Biden nixed his reelection campaign and Harris became the Democratic nominee, they had resigned themselves to accepting Trump would win the election, Sorkin said.

“I think it’s a psychological thing that happened,” he added. “I actually think that in some ways Harris is now having to fight that.”
