Bill Clinton Shares 1 Unusual Reason He Wants Kamala Harris To Win In November

Former President Bill Clinton gave a rousing endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris in Chicago on Wednesday, before cracking a joke about one of her first jobs working at a McDonalds.

Harris has spoken about her early job at the fast food giant while she was in college, working at the chain as a summer job to help pay for school. Clinton said that history will help his own legacy if she’s elected in November.

“I will be so happy when she actually enters the White House as president,” Clinton said on stage at the Democratic National Convention, “because she will break my record as the president who spent the most time at McDonald’s.”

Clinton was well-known — and satirized — for his love of fast food during his tenure in the White House. But the former president has a family history of heart disease and underwent a quadruple coronary bypass in 2004 after experiencing chest pains. Some of his arteries were found to be more than 90% blocked, doctors said at the time.

Clinton has since turned to a largely vegan diet and has praised the lifestyle for changing his life.

“I might not be around if I hadn’t become vegan,” he said during an event in 2016. “It’s great.”

He reiterated those remarks on stage in Chicago on Wednesday, noting he had recently turned 78 and was the oldest person in his family.

The former president turned a large portion of his speech to another McDonald’s lover: Donald Trump. While in office, Trump served McDonalds and other fast food to college athletes.
