Even though some polling sites will remain open until 8 PM ET, you can expect to see some results before then, though not much (and not counting the tiny towns that make a show of casting their votes at midnight). In 2020, the first results came in at about 7:38 PM; in 2016, 7:34 PM, and in 2012, 7:22 PM.
