Kirk Cameron: Too Much Freedom For Non Believers

Christian nationalist actor Kirk Cameron rambled to Newsmax that without Christian values, there’s too much freedom for nonbelievers to to do the wrong thing.

Cameron used no bananas in this appearance.

What got Kirk’s panties in a bunch, along with Newsmax, was a new YouGov poll that says only 40% of the country views religion to be “very important.”

This led to Kurt’s word salad ramble.

What we know from those of us within the family of faith, from personal experience, and what we know from history throughout the world is that Christian faith and morality is the absolute lifeblood of the American Republic.

It is the foundational principles this nation was built upon.

So, of course, people understand that true religion, as I put it, is critically important.

Without it, America doesn’t work.

There’s too much freedom for people to do the wrong thing without moral integrity, which can only be sustained with a genuine relationship with our maker.

He’s the one that changes our heart.

That’s not an outside job.

It happens on the inside by the spirit of God.

That’s why true religion and faith is so critically important.

And without it, we see lawlessness and chaos in society like we’re seeing all over — in our streets, on borders, corruption, politically, economic collapse, moral failure, spiritual apathy, all these things fall as every institution is dependent upon genuine faith and moral integrity.

It’s not surprising that religion is losing hold in the country. So many people are rejecting the hard-right Christian takeover of the GOP, and what it has already led to.

Christian faith has led to some horrific violence throughout the world’s history. How quickly Christofascists like Cameron forget about the Spanish inquisition. Thecountless religious wars. The Crusades, and even the Salem witch trials right here in America.

The most recent scandal concerns not only widespread sexual abuse in the Southern Baptist Conference but its systematic cover-up by church leadership. Why should anyone align themselves with that?

That’s just naming a few.

I know many people that come from the Christian faith that have actual moral integrity, but I know just as many who are atheists who have the same moral integrity.

And I see far more faux Christians using religion to gain wealth and power in the Republican party, only to be exposed as liars, thieves, and sexual predators.

These fake preachers only speak to themselves and wingnut media outlets to create more fear, anger, and resentment.

Christian nationalists are causing chaos within this country right now, as they are currently engaged in a full frontal assault on the LGBT community, immigrants, education, books, while supporting a narcissistic, nonreligious sexual abuser for president.
